Abia Warriors forward Ikoi Etta has reflected on his contribution to the team’s 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos in their Matchday 4 fixture at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Etta was introduced in the second half and broke the deadlock in the 88th minute before Chukwuemeka Obioma doubled the visitors’ advantage two minutes later.

The victory was Abia Warriors’ first of the season after three previous matches, with Etta explaining that his role as a second-half substitute is part of the team’s tactical plan.

“It’s an amazing win for us, as I always come on in the second half of matches to complement my team,” Etta said after the game.

He added that the coaching staff usually introduces him after the interval because of the energy he brings to the team.

“It’s our game plan because there is this energy I bring to the team, which is why our coach usually introduces me from the bench to come on and complement the team. It really worked out for us.”

Etta’s late goal and Obioma’s strike secured all three points for Abia Warriors in the away fixture.
