The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected reports suggesting it is considering an alliance with other political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Thursday at the party's state secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State Chairman of the PDP, Abraham Amah, dismissed claims of any planned coalition, describing the party as united, strong and fully prepared for the 2027 electoral contest.

Amah said anyone making statements proposing or endorsing an alliance was not speaking on behalf of the party.

According to him, the PDP has successfully uploaded the names of its candidates for various elective positions and is ready to contest the elections without entering into any agreement with another political party or allowing any group to use its platform.

"As far as we are concerned, as of today, we do not have any agreement with any other political party.

"I am privileged to know what is happening in the party, not only in the state but also at the national level. So we do not have any such agreement with anybody," Amah stated.

The state chairman also dismissed reports of divisions within the Abia PDP, insisting there is no faction in the party.

He explained that the successful upload of the party's candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal reflects the unity and legitimacy of the party's leadership.

Amah further disclosed that the state chapter has begun reconciling aggrieved aspirants who participated in the party's primary elections as part of efforts to strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls.

Earlier during the press conference, the PDP governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, pledged to implement a ₦90,000 minimum wage for civil servants if elected governor in 2027.

Anosike also criticised the salary payment system of the current Abia State Government, alleging that the administration is not implementing the ₦70,000 minimum wage uniformly for workers across the state.
