2027: No Federal Appointments for APC Leaders Who Lose Polling Units — Abia Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has warned its leaders and stakeholders that those who fail to deliver their polling units, wards or constituencies in the 2027 elections will not be considered for federal appointments.

The state APC chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, disclosed this on Sunday at the party secretariat in Umuahia during a post-primary election reconciliation meeting.

Chukwu said the party was developing a system that would ensure members were rewarded based on their electoral performance and contribution to the party.

He said the performance of APC leaders and stakeholders would be closely monitored during the 2027 elections, with results from their respective polling units, wards and constituencies to be published after the polls.

“Immediately after this election, we will publish the polling units of all the leaders and stakeholders of the party. If you cannot win your polling unit, ward and constituency, you have no business being made a federal commissioner or a minister,” he said.

The chairman added that having connections in Abuja would not be enough to secure federal appointments under the proposed arrangement.

“Let me tell you, we are working out a modality where people will be rewarded according to their output. If you think you have contacts in Abuja and you lose your polling unit, ward and constituency, and you expect to be made a minister, it is impossible under this regime,” Chukwu said.

He vowed that the party would adopt a “new order” in which loyalty, commitment and electoral performance would play a major role in determining who receives recognition and appointments.

The APC chairman also called for unity, focus and a sustained strategy to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates in Abia State in the 2027 elections.

He warned the party’s House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders against trading the interests of the APC for those of rival political parties.

Responding to the call, an APC member, Sam Anya, said a structure had been established in Ohafia to secure victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.

Meanwhile, Chukwu inaugurated a peace committee headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
