Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State House of Assembly primaries for the Isuikwuato State Constituency in Abia State, aspirant Lilian Agbazue has denied allegations suggesting she is affiliated with the Labour Party or working for the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
Speaking through a recorded message released on Wednesday amid rising political tension over her recent interactions with the state government, Agbazue described the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
She maintained that her relationship with the Abia State Government is purely business-related and has no political undertone.
“I wish to issue a disclaimer and state unequivocally that I, Lilian Obenwa Agbazue, have no business being a Labour Party member and I am not working for Governor Alex Otti,” she stated.
According to her, her contact with the governor was solely connected to rice supply contracts, explaining that she is widely known across Abia State as a rice supplier who maintains business relationships across political lines.
“It will be extremely foolish of me to contest an election under APC and at the same time work for a governor elected under the Labour Party,” she said.
Agbazue also hinted that gender bias may be contributing to the controversy surrounding her activities as political tensions continue to build ahead of the APC primaries.
