Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Austin Akobundu, has announced the commencement of the second phase of his “Light-Up the Communities” project aimed at improving living conditions across the district.
Akobundu made the announcement while briefing journalists at his liaison office in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, where he also highlighted his achievements in office.
According to him, the project will extend to 11 additional markets across the senatorial district, with the goal of improving lighting, enhancing security, and supporting commercial activities in the benefiting communities.
“The project will cover another set of 11 markets across the senatorial district,” he said. “This project will not only add to the aesthetics of the markets and communities, but will enhance security and substantially boost commerce and business activities across the designated areas.”
He also noted that beyond the streetlight initiative, he has facilitated several development projects through youth and women empowerment programmes, as well as sponsoring bills and supporting motions at the Senate that are aimed at improving the welfare of his constituents.
Akobundu further disclosed that he recently conducted a free medical outreach across three local government areas — Ikwuano, Osisioma Ngwa, and Umuahia North — with plans already in place for a second phase covering Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, and Umuahia South.
He reaffirmed his commitment to both present and future generations, stressing that his representation is focused on long-term development and sustainable impact across Abia Central Senatorial District.
