An atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and celebration filled St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Onyirimba Road, Amaekpu Ohafia, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, as Barr. Chima Emetu and Barr. Mrs. Chima Lekwachi Emetu presented their newborn triplets to God during a special thanksgiving and dedication service.
The Holy Mass was officiated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Clifford Ogbonna, and attracted a large gathering of family members, friends, members of the Knights and Ladies of St. Mulumba, Labour Party supporters, political stakeholders, and other well-wishers who came to celebrate the joyous occasion.
Speaking during the service, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, described the birth of the triplets as a clear demonstration of God’s faithfulness and a reminder that divine promises never fail.
He congratulated the parents for their unwavering faith and encouraged worshippers to remain steadfast in trusting God’s timing and intervention in their lives.
According to him, the arrival of the three children represents an extraordinary blessing, noting that while the birth of one child is a source of joy, God chose to multiply that joy three times for the family.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Clifford Ogbonna reflected on Psalm 127:3, which describes children as a heritage and reward from the Lord. He emphasized that God’s blessings often surpass human expectations and described the triplets as evidence that miracles still happen.
The priest offered prayers for the children’s protection, good health, wisdom, and growth, while also praying for the mother’s full recovery. He encouraged parents and guardians to raise their children in the fear of God so they can become positive influences in society and within the Church.
As part of the thanksgiving celebration, the Emetu family announced the permanent restoration of electricity to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ohafia, as an expression of gratitude to God for His protection throughout the pregnancy and the safe delivery of the children.
Receiving the gesture on behalf of the parish, Rev. Fr. Ogbonna thanked the family and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon them. He described the donation as a reflection of the family’s commitment to supporting the work of God and contributing to the development of the Church.
The thanksgiving service featured songs of praise, worship, and dancing as members of the congregation joined the family in celebrating the birth of the triplets.
The event attracted dignitaries from different parts of Abia State and concluded with prayers for the children’s future, alongside renewed calls for faith, gratitude, and confidence in God’s unfailing providence.
