Erondu Jnr Pledges People-Focused Representation in Abia South Senate Bid

The lawmaker representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Jnr, has said the welfare of the people would remain his top priority if elected senator for Abia South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists during a recent All Progressives Congress stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s new secretariat along Finbarrs Road in Umuahia, Erondu Jnr said residents of Abia South should expect vibrant, people-oriented and impactful representation if he secures victory in the race to the Senate.

He explained that his political philosophy has always been centred on performance, accountability and service to the people, stressing that leadership should be measured by visible achievements rather than empty promises.

According to him, his aspiration is built on consolidating the developmental and empowerment initiatives he has already undertaken over the years.

“My people have deemed it fit that I should represent them at the 11th Senate of the National Assembly. What I will do differently is to consolidate on the developmental strides and empowerment initiatives, which I have already demonstrated over the years,” he said.

The lawmaker further argued that politicians seeking new offices should first account for how they performed in previous positions before presenting fresh promises to the electorate.

“My pattern of politics is simple: talk about what you have done in the past, what you are doing presently, before talking about what you intend to do in the future. The people deserve to know how you have improved lives with the offices you previously occupied or currently holding in trust,” he added.

Erondu Jnr maintained that his track record in public service, grassroots development and empowerment programmes speaks for itself, insisting that his contributions to society are evident.

“With the little opportunity given to me, I have performed above average. By the grace of God, the people should expect nothing less than greater service, effective representation, and more dividends of democracy,” he stated.

Speaking on the challenge of contesting against a serving senator seeking a sixth term in office, the APC chieftain expressed confidence in his chances, likening the forthcoming election to the Biblical story of David and Goliath.

“I have God Almighty on my side and I am not scared of anybody. By God’s infinite mercies, the people of Abia South Senatorial District, Abia State, and indeed Nigeria, will rejoice as they will witness a repeat of the David and Goliath story,” he declared.

He also expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious at both the APC primaries and the 2027 general election.
