The Ebem Ohafia community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State has been thrown into mourning after two of its sons lost their lives in separate road accidents.

The victims, identified as Thompson Kalu and Uma Orji, died in separate incidents that occurred between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

According to reports, the first tragedy occurred on Sunday night when a truck allegedly operating without headlights collided with Thompson Kalu, who was riding a motorcycle.

The impact left him with severe head injuries, and he reportedly died at the scene before medical assistance could save him.

A few hours later, another fatal accident claimed the life of Uma Orji, popularly known as Ome Ego. He was said to have been involved in a lone accident on Monday morning when the truck he was travelling in suddenly crashed and fell on him, leading to his death.

As of the time of filing the report, neither the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) nor the Nigeria Police Force had issued an official statement regarding the incidents.

Reacting to the development, the paramount ruler of the ancient kingdom of Ebem Ohafia, Ezie Ukoha Kalu, alongside the Ezie-in-Council and the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), expressed deep sorrow over the deaths.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union, Ifeanyi Okali, the community described the incidents as a shocking and painful loss.

The statement noted that the deaths of the two men had left the entire community grieving, describing them as hardworking and responsible individuals who were committed to supporting their families and contributing positively to society.

According to the community, the tragic incidents have created a profound sense of loss among residents, who continue to mourn the untimely deaths of the two indigenes.
