The Reality Organisation, a pro-APC group, has rejected the decision by the All Progressives Congress State Working Committee in Abia to lift the ultimatum issued to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the member representing Ukwa East-West Federal Constituency, Chris Nkwonta.

The organisation described the decision as a face-saving measure and called on the APC National Working Committee to dissolve the Chijioke Chukwu-led State Working Committee.

Recall that APC stakeholders in Abia on Sunday resolved to withdraw the ultimatum issued to Kalu and Nkwonta over comments allegedly considered supportive of Governor Alex Otti ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

In a statement signed by Dimgba Okereke on Tuesday, the Reality Organisation criticised the process, arguing that the decision did not amount to genuine reconciliation.

“What transpired at the so-called stakeholders’ meeting was neither reconciliation nor leadership,” the organisation said.

It accused the State Working Committee of creating unnecessary tension by publicly confronting party leaders, issuing ultimatums and later reversing its position without resolving the underlying issues.

The group also maintained that Kalu had not committed any anti-party offence.

According to the organisation, Kalu was merely responding to questions during a television interview when he gave his assessment of Governor Otti’s chances in the 2027 election.

It added that Kalu had also denied the existence of an alliance between the APC and Otti.

“A prediction is not an endorsement. No amount of political sophistry can transform one into the other,” the group said.

The organisation argued that the reversal by the state leadership further exposed what it described as Chukwu’s lack of political maturity, neutrality and leadership capacity to unite the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“A state chairman cannot administer a political party on impulse, selective outrage and narrow political calculations. Leadership demands fairness, consultation, maturity, sound judgement and the capacity to accommodate the diverse tendencies within a large political family,” it said.

The group accused the APC state leadership of generating avoidable controversy and internal tension over an allegation it described as unfounded.

“What Chijioke Chukwu succeeded in doing was generating unnecessary political controversy around an allegation that had no foundation. He created the spectacle, fuelled the controversy and subjected the party to avoidable internal tension,” the organisation said.

The Reality Organisation therefore urged the APC National Working Committee to intervene in the Abia chapter and dissolve the current State Working Committee.

“We therefore call on the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress to urgently intervene in Abia State and dissolve the present State Working Committee,” the group said.

It argued that the Chijioke Chukwu-led SWC had failed to demonstrate the impartiality and unifying leadership needed to reconcile competing interests within the party and prepare it for the 2027 elections.
