Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has congratulated former Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on the occasion of his 85th birthday.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 17, by his spokesman, Ukoha Njoku, Otti described Babangida as a visionary statesman whose administration created Abia State on August 27, 1991.

“On behalf of the Government and good people of Abia State, I heartily congratulate President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on attaining this remarkable age of 85,” Otti said.

The governor recalled that Abia was created 35 years ago under Babangida’s administration as Head of State, describing the decision as a historic milestone that gave birth to a state that has continued to contribute to Nigeria’s growth and development.

“We recall with deep appreciation that 35 years ago, under your administration as Head of State, Abia State was created. That historic decision gave birth to a State that has continued to make significant contributions to the growth and development of our nation,” he added.

Otti disclosed that the Abia State Executive Council had also formally congratulated Babangida on the milestone during its weekly meeting.

The council described Babangida as the “Father of Abia State” and thanked God for preserving him and sustaining his good health.

Otti further prayed for continued wisdom, strength and peace for the former military leader, as well as many more years of service to Nigeria.
