As the All Progressives Congress (APC) State House of Assembly primaries hold today, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, assembly aspirant Lilian Chinasa Obenwa has reaffirmed her commitment to providing purposeful and inclusive representation for the people of Isuikwuato at the Abia State House of Assembly.
Speaking with journalists ahead of the primaries, Mrs. Obenwa emphasized the need for greater female participation in the legislative process, expressing concern over the absence of women in the current Abia State House of Assembly.
She said her ambition is rooted in a long-standing desire to bring the dividends of democracy closer to the grassroots while ensuring effective representation for the people of Isuikwuato.
The APC hopeful appealed to party faithful across the 20 wards of Isuikwuato Local Government Area to support her candidacy, describing her campaign as a push for fresh ideas, inclusive governance, and leadership focused on the needs of the people.
According to her, the constituency needs a new direction built on competence, accessibility, and balanced gender representation.
Obenwa is expected to contest for the party’s ticket alongside former Isuikwuato Local Government Chairman, Chima Agbaeze, and other aspirants in what is anticipated to be a keenly contested primary election.
