Outrage as Anambra Government Arraigns Abia NDC Senatorial Aspirant Over Alleged Fake Miracles

There is growing reaction after the government of Anambra State arraigned the senatorial aspirant for Abia Central District under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, over allegations of fake prophecies and miracles.

Nwankpa, who is also an indigene of Abia State and a bishop of a Pentecostal church based in Onitsha, was brought before the High Court in Awka alongside seven other Christian clerics. They are accused of engaging in staged miracles and false prophetic activities.

Following the arraignment, Nwankpa’s media aide, Stanley Nduagu, strongly rejected the allegations, describing them as unfounded. He insisted that the cleric has served in ministry for over 25 years without any record of misconduct or deceptive practices.

He maintained that no evidence had been presented to support the claims levelled against his principal.

Some members of Nwankpa’s community in Isiala Ngwa have also expressed concern over his arrest, calling for his immediate release and questioning the basis of the charges.

One community member, Ngozi Ahunanya, accused the Anambra State Government of unfairly targeting Christians and traditional religious practitioners.

Similarly, Francess Olisa Ogbonnaya, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Assembly candidate for Arochukwu constituency, also condemned the arrest, describing it as unnecessary harassment of clerics and worshippers.

The case continues to generate debate as reactions grow from political and religious groups across Abia and beyond.
