PDP Concludes Abia Assembly Primaries, Governorship Outcome Expected Today

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully concluded its State House of Assembly primary elections across the 24 constituencies in Abia State, while the party says the governorship primary result will be announced today, May 24, 2026.
The primaries, which combined consensus arrangements with direct voting in some constituencies, were reportedly conducted peacefully and without disputes.
Speaking to journalists at the PDP Secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State Chairman of the party, Elder Abraham Amah, expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the exercise. He praised party members for demonstrating discipline, unity, and commitment throughout the process.
The Chairman of the Election Committee, Hon. Chris Nnadi, represented by the committee’s Secretary, Hon. Okafor Onowu, officially announced the successful candidates who will fly the party’s flag in the 2027 State House of Assembly election.
Among those declared winners were Anastasia Ozoemena for Aba Central State Constituency, Gracelyn Oko for Ohafia North State Constituency, Ekwuribe Ifeanyi for Umuahia South State Constituency, and Joe Ukpai Kalu for Ohafia South State Constituency.
Also announced were Kalu Uche for Arochukwu State Constituency, Enyinnaya Apollos for Obingwa West State Constituency, Chizuru Okey Kalu for Aba North State Constituency, and Daniel Ajunwa for Aba South State Constituency, alongside other candidates.
Party leaders commended delegates and stakeholders for contributing to what they described as a transparent and orderly exercise. They also expressed confidence that the PDP would head into the 2027 general elections in a stronger position.
The party further confirmed that the outcome of its governorship primary election would be made public on May 24, 2026.
