The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the posting of eight new Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands across the country and appointed a new Commandant for the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commission's spokesman, Mr. Torty Njoku.

According to the statement, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo, who previously served as Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Training and Development, has been deployed as the new Commissioner of Police for Abia State.

Other appointments include CP Ayodeji Faniyan, formerly Commissioner of Police, Administration, Police Cooperative, Lagos, who has been posted to Plateau State, and CP Saka Adewale Ajao, previously Commissioner of Police, Administration, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Gombe, who will now head the Bayelsa State Command.

The Commission also approved the posting of CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, formerly Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Abuja, to Cross River State, while CP Nnanna Oji Ama, previously Commissioner of Police in charge of Intelligence, was deployed to Anambra State.

Similarly, CP Patrick Daaor, formerly Commissioner of Police, Administration, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, was posted to Edo State. CP Tijani Murtala will head the Jigawa State Command, while CP Samuel Erale Etaifo has been appointed Commissioner of Police for Delta State.

In addition to the state command postings, the PSC approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil.

According to the Commission, AIG Mohammed has more than 33 years of experience in police operations, criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing, and training.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Bayero University. During his career, he has served as Commandant of the Police College in Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing Zones 3 and 6.

He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

The PSC explained that the postings followed the recent promotion of several former Commissioners of Police and were intended to meet operational needs and strengthen policing across the country.

Addressing the newly posted officers, Board Member and Commissioner of the PSC, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd), who presided over the session, urged them to remain professional, uphold the rule of law, maintain neutrality, and carry out their responsibilities with diligence.

Also present at the meeting were other members of the Commission, including Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Hon. Justice Christine Ladi Dabup (rtd), Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, and the Secretary to the Commission.
