Tinubu Defeats Challenger as APC Wraps Up Presidential Primaries in Abia

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its presidential primary election, with incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerging as the winner.
The primary election, held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, saw President Tinubu secure a commanding victory over his only opponent, Mr. Stanley Osifo. Tinubu polled 161,005 votes, while Osifo recorded 1,007 votes.
The exercise took place across the 184 wards in the state. Following the voting process, results from the wards were collated by local government coordinators before being forwarded to the APC state secretariat located on Finbarrs Road in Umuahia for final compilation.
Declaring the outcome of the election, the Abia State Presidential Primary Returning Officer and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, officially announced President Tinubu as the winner of the party’s presidential primary in the state.
According to Kalu, the President scored the highest number of valid votes cast during the exercise and was therefore duly returned as the APC’s winning candidate in Abia State.
Party officials and stakeholders from different parts of the state monitored the primary election process.
