Emeka Bahadur has emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Bahadur, who is based in the United States, secured the party’s ticket through a consensus arrangement adopted by members during the selection process.
The motion for the adoption of a voice vote was moved by Chinweikpe Joseph and seconded by Sunny Nwagboo, leading to his official emergence as the party’s flag bearer.
Speaking shortly after his emergence in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, on Thursday, Bahadur expressed appreciation to party leaders, women, youths, and stakeholders for their support throughout the process.
He promised that if elected to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia in the National Assembly, he would deliver purposeful and people-oriented representation that would make both the constituency and the state proud.
Bahadur also described the turnout at the event as a “history-making moment,” saying it reflected the growing commitment of residents to the future of the constituency.
“What I have seen today makes me proud of the men, women, and youths who came out in their numbers to support this movement,” he said while addressing cheering supporters.
The announcement was met with celebration from party faithful, who described it as the beginning of a new political chapter for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.
