The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has denied joining any political coalition or entering into a working arrangement with other parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also warned political parties, candidates and members of the public against dealing with individuals it described as impostors who allegedly parade themselves as NNPP leaders and candidates.

NNPP Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, made the position known in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

Aniebonam alleged that some individuals who had been expelled from the party were still presenting themselves as its leaders, despite what he said were court judgments and recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He alleged that the individuals were doing so to obtain money from unsuspecting political parties and candidates.

Describing the NNPP as an independent political party, Aniebonam said the party had not authorised any coalition arrangement.

“The authentic NNPP with basket of fruits logo is not a member of any coalition. It stands to reason that as a national political party, we are independent,” he stated.

He said the party would announce any decision concerning strategic alliances with other political parties if the need arose.

Aniebonam urged anyone who may have paid money to unauthorised persons for nomination or political alliance arrangements to seek a refund from those individuals.

He also listed the officials he said had the mandate to speak and make decisions on behalf of the NNPP as its recognised leadership.

They are Aniebonam, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Dr Agbo Major, National Chairman; Oginni Olaposi, National Secretary; Prince Toyese, National Treasurer; and Aisha Kade Onyia, National Woman Leader.

The NNPP’s latest position comes amid ongoing political realignments and coalition discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
