Abia Concludes Third Anniversary Celebration, Otti Pledges More Development

The Abia State Government has brought to a close its week-long activities marking the third anniversary of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, celebrating key achievements recorded since he assumed office in 2023.
Speaking at the grand finale held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Governor Alex Otti said the past three years had witnessed significant progress across various sectors of the state's economy.
The governor expressed satisfaction with what he described as steady and deliberate growth, noting that his administration had undertaken several projects aimed at transforming the state.
Highlighting achievements in infrastructure, Otti disclosed that his government had rehabilitated and reconstructed 414 roads covering more than 800 kilometres across Abia. He added that another 82 road projects, spanning about 200 kilometres, would soon be completed and commissioned.
In the healthcare sector, the governor said the renovation and upgrading of primary healthcare centres across the state were ongoing. According to him, the improvements have contributed to the recognition Abia has received for its performance in healthcare delivery and management.
On education, Otti revealed that more than 700 teachers had been recruited to strengthen teaching in primary and secondary schools across the state. He also noted that extensive renovation works were ongoing in many schools, while fencing and security measures had been introduced to protect educational facilities and assets.
The governor maintained that his administration had made meaningful progress in all sectors and assured residents that efforts to develop the state would not slow down.
According to him, the government remains committed to increasing the pace of development in order to transform Abia into a modern and prosperous state before the end of his tenure.
Several individuals, groups, and organisations delivered goodwill messages during the event, commending the administration for its achievements and wishing the state continued progress.
The celebration climaxed with a colourful parade by the Nigeria Police Force, which added excitement and pageantry to the occasion.
