Abia Police, NIPR Deepen Collaboration on Community Policing and Public Safety

The Abia State Police Command has reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening community engagement and partnerships with key stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to promote peace, security and public confidence across the state.

This followed a courtesy visit by delegates of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to the Command Headquarters on Monday, May 12, 2026.

The delegation, led by the institute’s Chairperson, Onyinye Ralph Nwachukwu, said the visit was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at encouraging stronger police-community relations and improving public engagement.

During the meeting, the delegation commended the Abia State Police Command for its proactive approach to maintaining peace and security, as well as its openness to members of the public and continued support for the institute.

The group also praised the Command’s efforts in promoting professionalism, peace and public trust through effective communication and community policing initiatives.

Special recognition was given to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, for providing timely and consistent updates on security matters and the activities of the Command.

Speaking while receiving the delegation, the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, assured the institute of the Command’s readiness to sustain collaboration with professional bodies and relevant stakeholders.

He encouraged members of the public and organizations to continue supporting the Police by providing useful and timely information that could help prevent crime and improve security across the state.

The Commissioner further stressed the importance of the “See Something, Say Something” campaign, noting that closer cooperation between the Police and the public would strengthen efforts to combat crime and criminal activities in Abia State.

According to him, sustained partnership and information sharing remain vital to maintaining peace, law and order in the state.
