The CityBoy Movement has dismissed as false and misleading a viral social media publication alleging that its patron, Seyi Tinubu, made blasphemous comments concerning Almighty God and the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Monday, the group described the publication as malicious and deliberately crafted to provoke religious division and misinform the public.
The statement, signed by the Movement’s Deputy Director-General for Communication and Public Affairs, O’tega Ogra, said the controversial write-up, allegedly authored by one “Albaabu Abudulahi,” was entirely fabricated.
According to the group, Seyi Tinubu never made the remarks being circulated online under any circumstance.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Barr. Seyi Tinubu did not make the statement credited to him. The attribution is entirely false, malicious in intent, reckless in circulation and dangerous in consequence,” the statement read.
The Movement further described Seyi Tinubu as a deeply religious individual who holds strong reverence for Almighty God and firmly believes that power and authority come only through divine grace and permission.
It stressed that he has never insulted, questioned, or diminished the supremacy of God or Allah and would never do so.
The group also noted that although Seyi Tinubu remains committed to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, he has never placed political interests above his religious beliefs.
According to the statement, the viral publication was part of a deliberate effort by mischief makers to tarnish his image and inflame religious sentiments across the country.
The CityBoy Movement urged Nigerians, regardless of political or religious affiliation, to disregard the circulating claims and avoid spreading unverified information online.
It also called on journalists and social media users to verify information properly before publishing or sharing content capable of causing public tension.
