Emetu Joins Ohafia Labour Party Health Walk, Commends Organisers and Participants

Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, has commended the organisers and participants of a Labour Party physical health walk held in Ohafia Local Government Area on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Emetu described the exercise as an opportunity to encourage healthy living, strengthen unity among party members and deepen grassroots engagement.

The walk began at Ohafia Girls Secondary School, Amaekpu, at 8:00 a.m., passed through Old Soldier Junction in Ebem and Elu Community, and ended at the Deputy Governor’s residence.

Addressing participants, Emetu praised the turnout, describing it as a demonstration of unity and support for the leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.

“The massive participation we have witnessed in Ohafia today is a powerful statement of unity, loyalty and confidence in the leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. I congratulate the organisers and participants for turning a health walk into a compelling demonstration of our collective resolve to build on the gains of the New Abia transformation,” he said.

The Deputy Governor noted that the event reflected the Labour Party’s grassroots presence in Ohafia and urged members to sustain their engagement with residents as the 2027 general elections approach.

He called on party supporters to translate their enthusiasm into continued grassroots mobilisation and public engagement in support of the administration’s development agenda.

“Ohafia has shown that the Labour Party has committed supporters and a strong grassroots presence. The energy, solidarity and enthusiasm displayed today reinforce our determination to consolidate the progress Abia is making under Governor Otti,” Emetu said.

He added that continued cooperation among party members and supporters would be important in advancing the governor’s vision for the state.

The event brought together Labour Party members and supporters to promote physical wellness while reaffirming their support for the Otti administration and the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The exercise was convened by Hon. Evangelist Mrs. Chidinma Ume Udonsi, Supervisory Councillor for Health, and coordinated by Hon. Chidi Anya Igu Uduma, Field Coordinator and Director of Strategic Planning.

The organisers thanked the dignitaries, party leaders, health-sector collaborators and participants for contributing to the success of the event, which combined political engagement with community health awareness.

Emetu participated in the walk alongside the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa; the member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke, popularly known as Etiokwe; and the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Hon. Eleanya Kalu Ojuu.

Other participants included Deputy Mayor Hon. Eme Iro, Labour Party executives, councillors, candidates, community stakeholders, members of Abia Arise and Abia Rejoice, and supporters from across the local government area.
