The Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, HRH Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, has died at the age of 89.

The monarch passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, after 35 years on the throne.

His death was confirmed by the executive members of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU) and the Ebem Ohafia Council of Chiefs and Elders.

The confirmation was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the community’s Publicity Secretary, Ifeanyi Okali.

Until his death, Eze Ukoha served as the Ezieogo and Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie, Ohafia, and Kpoke I of Ekeluogo Ebem Autonomous Community in Ohafia Local Government Area.

The statement described his death as a sad development for the Ebem Ohafia community and those who knew and respected the monarch.

During his 35-year reign, Eze Ukoha was credited with efforts to maintain peace in his community. He also sustained campaigns against drug abuse among youths and led efforts to confront criminal elements.
