Igbos in Delta Will Vote Tinubu, Not Peter Obi – Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed confidence that the Igbo community in Delta State will support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, despite backing another candidate in 2023.

Oborevwori made the statement during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, where he said the political alignment of voters in the state has shifted significantly since the last election.

He noted that many Igbos in Delta State, who supported Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, are now working closely with his administration and the ruling political structure.

“The Igbo community in Delta State that voted Peter Obi in 2023 are on the same page with us. I have told them to vote for party not candidate,” he said.

The governor added that his confidence in Tinubu’s re-election bid is based on what he described as improved political cooperation across ethnic and religious groups in the state.

He also claimed that religious leaders who opposed the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in 2023 are now aligning with the ruling party ahead of the next election cycle.

According to him, “The love they have for me, I have confidence they will vote for Tinubu. The two factors that determined the 2023 election in Delta were religion and non-indigene but I have been able to manage them so we are now working together.”

Oborevwori further stated that political engagements and consultations have helped strengthen unity among stakeholders in the state ahead of 2027.
