Labour Party Fixes NEC Meeting to Ratify Primary Election Results Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has scheduled a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to ratify the outcomes of its recently concluded primary elections conducted across the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, announced that the NEC meeting will hold on June 11.

He explained that the council is expected to approve the list of successful candidates from the primaries for onward submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission).

According to him, the move is in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act as well as the party’s constitution.

Asogwa added that following the ratification, the presentation of Certificates of Return for candidates vying for offices such as President, Governor, Senate, and House of Representatives will begin immediately.

He noted that the upcoming NEC meeting will be the first since the party’s convention and described it as a crucial step in strengthening preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party conducted its nationwide primary elections on May 30.

In addition, the Labour Party recently announced Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
