Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has called for calm over ongoing speculation about his future, urging the public to disregard reports linking him with a summer departure from the Turkish club.

The Nigeria international responded after head coach Eric Chelle fueled transfer rumours while explaining Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.

Chelle had suggested that Osimhen may be close to a move away from Galatasaray, noting that the striker had asked to be left out of the squad to focus on his club situation.

“We miss two players because Victor Osimhen may be about to change clubs,” Chelle said.

However, Osimhen has now moved to clarify the situation, saying the comments were taken out of context.

In a post shared on his Instagram Story, the striker revealed he had personally spoken with Chelle to address the issue.

“I just got off the phone with Coach Eric Chelle regarding the comments about me in his recent interview,” Osimhen wrote.

“Unfortunately, his words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion. He has great respect for Galatasaray, follows most of our games, and never intended to create any controversy.”

The forward expressed appreciation for the coach and reaffirmed his commitment to representing Nigeria whenever called upon.

“I appreciate the conversation, the opportunity to always represent my country, and I look forward to continuing to work with him. He is a great coach whom I respect a lot,” he added.

Osimhen concluded by urging fans and media to ignore ongoing speculation about his future, stressing that no controversy should be attached to the matter.
