Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has commended voters in Osun State and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of the just-concluded governorship election.

Otti also congratulated his Osun counterpart, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, urging him to remain focused on people-centred governance and the continued development of the state.

In a statement personally signed by him, Otti said the orderly manner in which Osun residents participated in the election, as well as the peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the exercise, demonstrated the maturity of Nigeria’s democracy.

He noted that the peaceful conduct was achieved despite some observed irregularities, describing it as evidence of citizens’ commitment to peaceful coexistence.

“I heartily congratulate my brother, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and the good people of Osun State on the peaceful and successful conduct of the just concluded Governorship Election in the State,” Otti said.

The governor commended INEC for what he described as its professionalism, while also praising security agencies for providing a safe environment throughout the electoral process.

He also acknowledged the contributions of other stakeholders who participated in making the election credible and transparent.

“This successful exercise further strengthens democratic governance in our country and reinforces the voice of the people in choosing their leaders,” he said.

Otti urged Adeleke, as he begins his second term, to focus on policies and programmes that improve the lives of Osun residents, create more opportunities and sustain peace and development across the state.

“As an Abia grandson, we stand with you and your state in the shared vision of building stronger institutions and delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” he added.

The Abia governor also prayed for wisdom, good health and strength for Adeleke as he continues to serve the people of Osun State.
