Three House of Reps Members Defect From APC to ADC and PRP

Three members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday formally left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

The defections took place during plenary, just a day after lawmakers resumed legislative duties following the Sallah break.

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the development on the floor of the chamber as the affected lawmakers submitted their resignation letters.

Rabilu Bala, who represents the Jama’are/Itas-Gadau Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, officially resigned from the APC and joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

In his letter, Bala cited persistent internal disagreements within the APC and said his decision was driven by the need to better serve the interests of his constituents under a different political platform.

Similarly, Abubakar Zango, representing Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, also announced his departure from the APC and his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Zango explained that his decision was based on conscience and what he described as the broader national interest, adding that he remains committed to effective legislative service and democratic principles.

In another defection, Abdullahi El-Rasheed, who represents Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State, also left the APC for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The latest defections highlight growing political realignments within the House of Representatives as lawmakers reposition ahead of future political contests.
