TikTok Deletes 4.02 Million Videos, Disrupts 86,000 LIVE Sessions in Nigeria — Report

TikTok has revealed that it removed more than 4.02 million videos and disrupted over 86,000 LIVE sessions in Nigeria during the fourth quarter of 2025 as part of its ongoing efforts to enforce its Community Guidelines and strengthen online safety.

The disclosure was made in the platform’s Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Tuesday, which outlined moderation actions taken both in Nigeria and globally.

According to the report, 4.02 million videos were removed in Nigeria alone during the period under review for violating platform rules. TikTok stated that 99.9 per cent of the flagged content was detected and removed proactively before users reported it, while 98.4 per cent of the videos were taken down within 24 hours of being posted.

The company said these figures reflect increased reliance on automated systems and advanced detection technologies designed to quickly identify and remove harmful content.

On a global scale, TikTok said it removed about 175.3 million videos during the quarter, representing roughly 0.5 per cent of all content uploaded on the platform. Of these, more than 152.5 million were taken down using automated detection tools, while around 8.4 million were later restored after further review.

The platform also reported enforcement actions on its LIVE feature, stating that it interrupted over 86,000 LIVE sessions in Nigeria for breaching community standards.

Worldwide, TikTok said it issued warnings, demonetised content, and took other enforcement measures against more than 17.7 million LIVE sessions and 9.2 million creators who violated its LIVE monetisation policies.

The company explained that warnings are intended to educate creators and help them correct content that may violate platform guidelines.

TikTok also highlighted its efforts to address harmful or misleading artificial intelligence-generated content. It said creators are required to label realistic AI-generated images, videos, and audio, while automated systems and Content Credentials technology are used to detect such material.

According to the report, these measures have contributed to the identification and labelling of more than 1.3 billion AI-generated videos globally.

The platform reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe digital environment through a combination of advanced moderation tools and a global team of trust and safety professionals.

TikTok also said it continues to work with government agencies, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, as well as civil society organisations, to promote safer online spaces and reduce harmful content.
