President Bola Tinubu has described the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, as a remarkable servant of God whose faith and dedication have shaped one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian ministries over more than five decades.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President joined family, friends, and members of the Christian community in celebrating Kumuyi’s 85th birthday.

Tinubu praised the cleric’s wide-reaching influence, noting that his teachings, writings, and ministry have impacted millions both within Nigeria and across the world.

“As the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi, your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world,” the President said.

He added that Kumuyi’s writings have continued to inspire believers, offering guidance, hope, and spiritual direction to people seeking purpose and truth.

“Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose,” he stated.

The President further highlighted the broader impact of Kumuyi’s ministry, noting that it has strengthened faith, restored families, and influenced leadership across generations.

“Your ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers,” he added.

Tinubu prayed for continued strength and divine health for the cleric, wishing him peace and abundant grace in the years ahead.

Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, Pastor Kumuyi founded the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he once lectured in mathematics.

Over the years, the ministry has expanded into one of the largest Pentecostal movements in Africa, with congregations in more than 150 countries.

Known for his disciplined lifestyle, strict doctrinal teachings, and strong evangelistic work, Kumuyi remains one of the most influential figures in global Christianity.
