Former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, has applauded Abia State Governor Alex Otti for the ongoing transformation of Ariaria International Market in Aba, describing the upgraded market environment as comparable to what is seen in developed countries.
In a statement personally signed on Monday, Wabara said the remodelling project demonstrates a clear commitment by the state government to revive Aba’s reputation as a major commercial centre.
According to him, his visit to the market left a strong impression, as the changes go far beyond ordinary renovation work.
“Having personally visited the remodelled Ariaria International Market in Aba, I must sincerely commend Governor Alex Otti for the remarkable transformation taking place in one of the most strategic commercial hubs in Nigeria and the West African sub-region,” Wabara stated.
“What I saw at Ariaria was beyond ordinary renovation. The market now carries the appearance of modern business districts found in advanced economies.”
The former Senate President, who currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged Governor Otti to sustain the momentum until the entire remodelling project is fully completed.
Wabara also stressed the importance of acknowledging good governance and effective leadership regardless of political affiliation.
“As an elder statesman, I believe that when leaders perform creditably, they deserve commendation irrespective of political differences,” he said.
“Governance should always be about the welfare of the people and the collective progress of society, not partisan interests.”
