The Nigerian Army has announced a combined reward of N60 million for information leading to the arrest of two senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), including the group's governor, Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, and his deputy, Muhammad Jidda.

The military said the two men were declared wanted over their alleged involvement in terrorist activities across the Lake Chad Basin.

Their identities were uncovered through forensic analysis of technical devices recovered during a recent offensive carried out by troops of Operation Hadin Kai against ISWAP fighters in the Lake Chad region.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Northeast Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the military is offering a N50 million reward for credible information leading to the arrest of Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, while N10 million has been placed on his deputy, Muhammad Jidda.

Goni explained that the identities of the suspects were established after forensic examination of recovered electronic devices, including valuable intelligence materials and a camcorder allegedly used by the terrorist group.

He said the operation marked another significant success in the military's ongoing campaign against ISWAP in northern Borno State.

According to him, troops recovered several technical devices and intelligence materials during the offensive, including a camcorder allegedly used by ISWAP members to record propaganda videos and document their operations.

The forensic exploitation of the recovered equipment, he said, generated actionable intelligence that helped identify locations linked to terrorist activities and exposed the identities of several senior ISWAP commanders operating within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis along the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

Among those identified were Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, described as the Wali (Governor) of the Islamic State West Africa Province; his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, also known as "The One-Handed Man"; and Hamad Abu Hanifa, identified as the Amirul-Fiya of ISWAP.

Goni noted that Operation Hadin Kai was drawing special public attention to Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, describing him as the most wanted ISWAP leader currently operating within the Lake Chad Basin.

He said the military would reward anyone who provides credible and actionable intelligence that directly leads to the suspect's arrest.

The spokesman assured members of the public that all information received would be handled with strict confidentiality and that informants would be protected in line with established security procedures.

He appealed to Nigerians to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in locating and apprehending the wanted suspects.

Goni also cautioned citizens against attempting to confront or arrest the suspected terrorists, urging them instead to leave such operations to security agencies.
