The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims who were held in captivity for more than 40 days, while also arresting five suspected informants believed to be connected to a kidnapping syndicate.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna State.

According to him, the operation was carried out by a joint security team comprising officers from Fushin Kada and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Hunkuyi.

He explained that the rescue followed weeks of sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated security efforts, which eventually led operatives to a suspected hideout used by the kidnappers.

Hassan said that upon sighting advancing security personnel, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning the victims, who were safely rescued without injury.

The rescued individuals were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu from Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa from Tufa Village in Niger State.

The victims were taken to a police clinic for medical evaluation and treatment before being reunited with their families.

During the operation, five suspected informants were also arrested. Preliminary investigations indicated that they allegedly provided intelligence and logistical support to the kidnappers.

The suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation, according to the police statement.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Rabiu Muhammad, praised the operatives for their professionalism and coordination, describing the operation as a significant success in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying efforts against criminal networks across the state.

The police chief also urged residents to support security agencies with credible information, noting that community cooperation remains essential in combating insecurity.

Investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal gang and ensure they are brought to justice.
